Privacy Policy

Simple Notes (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a personal productivity web application that allows you to create, organise, and sync rich-text notes. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect
When you sign in with a Google account, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. This information is stored in our Firebase database solely to identify your account and display your profile within the app. If you use the app without signing in, no personal information is collected.

Notes and Content
Notes, folders, tags, and attachments you create are stored securely in Google Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage under your unique user ID. This content is only accessible to you when signed in, and to authorised administrators for support and moderation purposes.

Usage Data
We may store minimal metadata such as the date you last used the app and the device platform (e.g., Android, iOS, Web). This is used solely for administrative purposes and is never sold or shared with third parties.

Cookies and Local Storage
The app uses your browser’s localStorage to remember your preferences (such as theme and display settings) between sessions. No tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies are used.

Third-Party Services
Simple Notes uses Google Firebase for authentication, database, and file storage services, and is therefore subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking networks.

Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at mvajid@gmail.com.

Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in Google Firebase with security rules that restrict access to your own data. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no system is completely secure.

Children’s Privacy
Simple Notes is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

By accessing or using Simple Notes, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before using the app.

Use of the App
Simple Notes is provided for personal, non-commercial use. You agree to use the app lawfully and not to misuse it in any way, including but not limited to attempting to gain unauthorised access, uploading harmful or illegal content, or interfering with the app’s normal operation.

User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access or security breach at mvajid@gmail.com.

Content Ownership
You retain full ownership of the notes and content you create. By storing content in Simple Notes, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and transmit that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

Premium Subscription
Certain features require a Premium licence. Payment is processed through PayPal. All sales are final unless otherwise required by applicable law. We reserve the right to modify pricing or features with reasonable notice.

Service Availability
We strive to keep Simple Notes available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or discontinue the service at any time with or without notice, and we are not liable for any resulting loss or inconvenience.

Intellectual Property
All design, code, and non-user-generated content in Simple Notes is the intellectual property of its creator. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit written permission.

Disclaimer of Warranties
Simple Notes is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, secure, or fit for any particular purpose.

Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Simple Notes, including any loss of data.

Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai, UAE.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Help & FAQs

How do I create a new note?

Tap the + button at the bottom of the screen. A new note card will appear — tap it to open and start writing. You can set a title, add body text, choose a colour, and assign the note to a folder or add tags.

How do I organise notes into folders?

Open the sidebar by tapping the menu icon (☰). Tap + New Folder, enter a name, and confirm. To move a note into a folder, open the note and use the folder option in the note menu, or tap the colour dot on a note card.

What is the difference between Free and Premium?

The Free plan lets you create up to 20 notes with core features. Premium unlocks unlimited notes, file and image attachments, custom wallpapers, data export, note sharing, priority cloud sync, and exclusive colour themes.

How do I upgrade to Premium?

Go to Settings → Upgrade to Premium. You will be directed to a secure PayPal payment page. Once payment is complete, your account is upgraded instantly. You must be signed in with a Google account to activate Premium.

How do I sync my notes across devices?

Sign in with your Google account by tapping the profile icon in the header. Your notes are automatically saved to the cloud. Open the app on any other device, sign in with the same Google account, and your notes will appear immediately.

How do I search for a note?

Tap the search icon 🔍 in the header and type any keyword. The app instantly filters notes by title, content, tags, and folder. Tap the × or clear the search bar to return to the full list.

How do I use checklists in my notes?

While editing a note, tap the checklist icon in the formatting toolbar to switch to checklist mode. Each line becomes a tickable item. Tap a checkbox to mark it complete. Tap the checklist icon again to return to plain text mode.

How do I colour-code or tag a note?

Open a note and tap the colour circle to open the colour picker and choose a card colour. To add tags, tap the tag icon inside the note editor. Both colours and tags appear on the note card and can be used as filters from the sidebar.

How do I export my notes to a file?

This is a Premium feature. Go to Settings → Export Data. Your notes will be packaged and downloaded as a JSON file. This acts as a full backup and can be imported again later.

How do I share a note?

This is a Premium feature. Open a note and tap the share icon. The app generates a unique link that lets anyone view the note in read-only mode. You can copy the link and share it anywhere.

How do I delete a note — and can I recover it?

Long-press a note card and select Delete, or use the delete option inside the note editor. Deleted notes are moved to Trash and stay there for 30 days. Go to Settings → Trash to restore or permanently remove them.

How do I set a wallpaper background?

This is a Premium feature. Tap the photo icon in the header to pick an image from your device as the wallpaper. Once set, long-press the notes list to enter full-screen wallpaper view. Tap the × button to exit.

How do I switch between Light and Dark mode?

Tap the sun / moon icon in the top-right area of the header to toggle between Light and Dark mode. Your preference is saved automatically and will be remembered the next time you open the app.
